Today, we learned who Martin Luther King, Jr. was. We read the book, Martin's Big Words. We watched his "I Have a Dream" speech on YouTube. We also talked about what it would have been like to live when black people didn't have the same rights as white people. I used the object lesson with the eggs -- (thank you, Pinterest!!) The students could see that though we look different on the outside, we are the same on the inside. Afterwards, they wrote down their dreams for a better world.
